WholeSnap Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 27, 2026
1. About WholeSnap
WholeSnap is a browser extension for Chrome and compatible Chromium-based browsers that lets you capture a full webpage or the visible area, preview the captured image, add annotations, copy the result, and save it as a PNG image.
2. Information WholeSnap Handles
When you explicitly start a capture, WholeSnap temporarily accesses the content of the active webpage as needed to measure the page, scroll through it, capture visible frames, and assemble the resulting screenshot. This may include webpage content that is visible to you in the active tab.
WholeSnap may also temporarily process the screenshot image and any annotations you add, such as text, arrows, shapes, counters, spotlight areas, crop selections, or pixelated regions.
3. How Your Data Is Used
WholeSnap uses webpage and screenshot data only to provide the features you request, including:
- capturing the visible area or full webpage;
- creating partial previews when a capture is stopped or reaches a safety limit;
- displaying and editing the screenshot in the local preview editor;
- copying the PNG image to your clipboard; and
- saving the PNG image to your device.
4. Local Processing and Storage
WholeSnap processes captured webpage data locally in your browser. Capture frames may be stored temporarily in the extension's IndexedDB storage so that the extension can assemble the final image and recover the current capture state while it is in progress.
WholeSnap does not upload captured frames, screenshots, annotations, or webpage content to a WholeSnap server. Capture data is removed after it is no longer needed, including after a completed save workflow, and older temporary capture data is cleaned up automatically.
5. Data Collection and Sharing
WholeSnap does not collect, sell, rent, or share your captured webpage content, screenshots, or annotations with us, advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
WholeSnap does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking technologies, or a remote backend service.
6. Browser Permissions
WholeSnap requests only the browser permissions needed for its user-facing features:
activeTab— access the active tab after you explicitly interact with WholeSnap.scripting— run the capture logic in the active webpage to inspect page dimensions, scroll, and prepare the capture.downloads— save the generated PNG image to your device when you choose Save.clipboardWrite— copy the generated PNG image to your clipboard when you choose Copy.
7. Restricted and Protected Pages
Browsers prevent extensions from running capture scripts on certain protected pages, such as browser internal pages, extension store pages, and some protected content. WholeSnap does not attempt to bypass these browser restrictions.
8. Third-Party Services
WholeSnap does not send captured data to third-party services. Websites you visit may independently use their own services, cookies, trackers, or embedded content; those are controlled by the website and are outside WholeSnap's operation.
9. Children's Privacy
WholeSnap is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not specifically directed to children. WholeSnap does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users through a backend service.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if WholeSnap's features or data-handling practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
